The Bears have a presser today at Halas Hall at 2pm Central. More than likely Ron will get his walking papers, ending SEVENTEEN years of me suffering with him on one of my two teams, the Bears and the Illini. This does make me feel good. No more I formation of death ™, no chance bomb ™, Hester reverse ™ among others. I am praying that he gets a great job at one of our Big Ten or Central Division rivals.
But most reports are saying that Lovie will be back, and that a bunch of the Bears coaching staff will be canned. We will put up the details here when they are clear.
If true, this really, really sucks. I knew that the McCaskeys wouldn’t part with all that dough and bring in Cowher and company. Nothing would make me happier than seeing the chin on the sidelines at Soldier Field next fall, but it doesn’t appear to be in the cards. I still hold out a shred of hope and won’t give up until they say who is what today, but it doesn’t look good.
The presser will be streamed at ChicagoBears.com if you want to listen to it live. I am a working stiff so won’t be able to do that but will try to analyze everything later tonight. This picture doesn’t help any but makes me feel better.

Does this worry everyone?
Jay Cutler is going to be ruined by the Chicago Bears.
Now I wouldnt be posting here if I didnt hate Ron Turner. The problem is Lovie Smith is just as bad as a coach as Ron Turner.
Jay Cutler will be on his third coordinator in 3 years. And in all likely hood Smith’s same old crap will continue and the Bears will suck again next season. Therefore the Bears decided to can the entire coaching staff and Jay Cutler will get another coordinator again.
Now the best QBs have had pretty much the same coordinators year in and year out. Peyton Manning has had the same guy, Brees has had the same guy since coming to New Orleans, Phillip Rivers has had the same guy. I think only Tom Brady has gone thorugh a couple of changes but the coaching regime there adapts to things.
I dont know whats going to happen other than spectulation put out there by the media.
Based on what I’m hearing, Lovie’s friends will just be promoted to high places again. Mike Martz will become the OC, and Rod Marinelli will become the DC. Martz does not have the personnel to run his offense here and will fail like he did in San Francisco and Detroit. Marinelli has NO experience calling plays as a coordinator. He was awful as a head coach, and his expertise has always been the defensive line, which well..how well did he do this season with that?
In all likelyhood with us having to play hte AFC East and NFC East next season will be a gutter trash season in which we finish anywhere from 5-11 to 8-8. That alone should get Lovie fired, but the damage will well be done.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Ron Turner has been fired.
I said the Three Stooges: Angelo, Smith and Turner had to go.
At least one is down. Two more to go.
Just heard on ESPN that Lovie is back. Ron officially gone. At least Turner is gone. You know Angelo isn’t going anywhere. Bears are notoriously stingy with their money
GOOD RIDDANCE TURNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have fun bagging groceries or whatever it is that you’re actually qualified to do. If there is any justice in the world, Lovie and Angelo will be joining you soon.
Ah, today is indeed a great day, even if we are still fucked with these leftover coaches.
I sooo wish I could be in the room when the fans of the next team Ron Turner is cursed with start googling his history and find our blog.
Now that Ron is gone, it’s time to change the name of your site to “Fire Lovie”
hallelujah…..ron “my play book is in crayon” turner is finally gone. i’d love to see the site keep going though and name it what james just said….fireloviesmith.net.
go bears.
Ron Turner finally being fired is a great day for Bears fans!

YESSSSS! DumbRon is DONE in the Chi!!! Cowher power still has a chance in Chicago. ESPN reports that he will not coach in 2010. Maybe…just maybe he is waiting for Lovie and the gang to give it one more try before coming in to the rescue. Keep the site just like it is! It makes us feel like we had a hand in the whole canning of DumbRon. Plus, some of the Bears family actually read the site.
so what happens to this website?
To all who are asking, thanks for caring! We won’t go anywhere, but will probably change the name of the header after a bit. Carl and I will need to have a soooper seeeekrit meeting to plan our next moves.
Well, I was mostly correct for my firing choices. They got rid of Turner, Hamilton, Hielstand, Boras, Butkus, and London. Kept Drake (stupid), Spencer (dumber), Jones, and Arthur.
I don’t particularly like Weis, but he’s a pretty good OC. I just think that he’ll still be too full of himself and expect something exorbitant for his services.
Chan Gailey will DEFINITELY come pretty cheap, and I think he’ll help Cutler work through his issues, implement an offense that can take advantage of our assets, and change the culture of this offense.
Looks like Lovie and Angelo are going to stick around until the end of their respective contracts, pretty much regardless of what happens on the field. I’m just hoping that a new OC could make this team competitive, and hopefully borderline playoff, even in the second or third toughest division in the NFL (behind probably NFC East and something in the AFC).
cutler + weis would = ridiculous offense.
