    Even idiotic, grinning skull Dan Pompei seems to think that Turner will get sacrificed on Monday. That’s a start for this franchise, but even if that happens we will just have to keep going until they get actual coaching talent for the whole team.

  2. Carl from Chicago says:

    Christ we are playing down to the level of the Lions. 3-3 in the 2nd quarter. We aren’t even remotely a playoff contender. The offense has gone back to sleep after our one good game / year vs. the Vikings. But that’s Ron for you…

  3. Carl from Chicago says:

    woo hooo now up 6-3. Watching this sad affair on the CBS game tracker which refreshes after every play. I can see the sad short yardage pass game and the Detroit response of penalties and ineptitude

  4. gfv says:

    Flipping back and forth to the Colts v. Bills game on a feed from South Bend. Snowing like hell in Buffalo and here in Valpo as well. That asshole Caldwell is throwing away his second game in a row playing the scrubs. Indy fans were very pissed off last week.

    Pompei once again plays damage control for the Bears. This article states how much of a moron he really is, he says that Lovie is the best option for the Bears.

  6. Doshi says:

    The problem is, though, Pompei is right. Firing Lovie would be idiotic for multiple reasons. Lovie and Angelo are tied at the hip, and firing one would certainly mean firing the other. Now, remember that Lovie has 2 years $12mil, and Angelo has 3 years $11mil from what I remember. $23mil to let guys sit on their asses? I don’t think so. That’s money they couldn’t spend on getting Marshall, who won’t be returning to Denver.

    Luckily, they’re getting rid of Ron Turner. They’re also getting Lovie out of the defensive play caller arena. Both are excellent moves, as Ron Turner is an idiot, and Lovie can’t handle head coaching AND calling the D. Let somebody else take over for that.

    As far as a new offensive coordinator, anybody thought of Chan Gailey? That was a remarkable job he did last year with the Chiefs after losing their top 2 QBs and then I believe getting T10 in all offensive categories during the second half of the season. As far as DC, are there any DCs that were fired last year or that will be fired this year? Which of them were any good at their jobs? Find one of them, let them take over the defense, and let Lovie become a figurehead while the OC and DC take care of running this team.

  7. Doshi says:

    Oh yeah, where in the HELL were Roma and Olsen this entire year? Good freakin lord, when did Olsen learn how to hang onto the ball with a guy draped on him? When did a Bears WR learn how to run that kind of route with that kind of precision? Turner is an idiot. FIRE RON TURNER!!!

  8. TO6 says:

    D’SHODU HAS BEEN THERE ALL YEAR!!! DumbRon just wouldn’t use him! He’ll figure a way to probably lose this game before it’s all said and done!

  9. Carl from Chicago says:

    @Doshi

    I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that firing Lovie and Angelo doesn’t make sense. Certainly firing just Lovie and leaving Angelo makes less sense than firing them both.

    The Bears latest value per Forbes is $1.1 BILLION.

    From a balance sheet point of view, the “mega” asset that is the Bears is being hurt by 3 years of not going to the playoffs as well as the fact that the future, frankly, is pretty bleak right now since no one in Chicago gives a crap about Lovie and he isn’t rallying the faithful. The Bears still will make plenty of $ in operating income even with these buyouts, which hurt less once the tax deductions are calculated, anyways.

    It is hard to think of how the McCaskeys can spin damage control with this season sliding down the crapper unless they do something “mega”.

    But just my 2 cents.

  10. $40mm in buyouts is still a lot of ca$h no matter how you slice it. The team being valued at $1bb doesn’t matter if they aren’t going to sell it. If their cash flow sucks, then you can guarantee lovely will be with us until his contract is up.

  11. Carl from Chicago says:

    Per that Forbes article looks like their cash flow is pretty sweet and has been that way for years, since they are basically taking the Chicago Park District for a ride with that lease.

    But no one has ever gone broke betting on the Bears to take the cheapest and the crappiest option.

  12. Doshi says:

    @Carl from Chicago
    Hey, I wanna see Chinkilla (Cowher) or Lucifer (Shanahan) as much as the next guy, believe me. I think that Chinkilla would bring back the tough that these Bears have been sorely lacking the last couple years, and I think Lucifer would actually give us a viable offense, especially with the amount of talent we’ve got at the skill positions. (say what you will, but having our WRs with a healthy, happy, and well-coached Cutler would be the envy of half the league)

    Unfortunately, with the McCaskey family’s history of frugality, I highly doubt they’d put up the 40mil for the buyouts, and then another 40mil or so for new contracts. At this point, I’d just be happy with them getting rid of Ron Turner and hiring somebody who can actually run an offense.

    On that account, I’m partial to Chan Gailey. Anybody else out there you guys like?

  13. Fro Dog says:

    I said this before but I never root against the Bears. However, these last two wins really piss me off. This probably means that Lovie keeps his job and it makes it hard for them to fire Turner. It’s bullshit. I still think all three should go.

  14. Fro, don’t say that. I think that Ron has been a dead man walking for a while now, someone has to go and he is the perfect fall guy.

    Doshi – I have said that for a long time. That $100mm or so is what it would take to get the Chin and his people in here and to take out the garbage. I don’t think they will do it.

  15. Kyle says:

    If winning the last two games changed anything, I’m going to be FUCKING PISSED!!! Then, after I calm down, I’m going to find something else to do next year since I won’t be concerned with the Bears. Keep whatever morons (Angelo, Lovie, Phillips) you have to in order to save money, just fire at least 3 of the “coordinators”.

  16. Tyler says:

    I was thinking about this the other night, I think the Bears need a coach with the attitude of Mike Ditka. Call me old fashioned, but the Bears need that kind of attitude to shake things up with the team. I’m not saying bring back the ’85 team necessarily, but we need someone like that to motivate and utulize the players talents to work with their games. Right now, we have a great QB in Cutler, we need a top flight receiver, and a better offensive line. If we can get a running game back next year, also with Forte and Bell, that will help also. FIRE RON TURNER!
