Wow that is a scathing article. One thing I laughed at was then they called other owners like Snyder "dynamic". An interesting adjective. The Redskins are one of the very few franchises run WORSE than the Bears, as that slow drain on Washington has been amazing on what used to be one of the premier franchises in all of sports. Now you can walk up to the gate and get tickets for any game, including the Cowboys for FACE. That is mind boggling. But I am sure that Shanahan will turn that thing around one way or another, shitty stadium be damned.

fro - we have Adler lot passes this year and we do tailgate. But we need to aim higher than grilled burgers, my "protein tailgate" of ribs and shrimp is easy and tasty.

At the Bears/Lions game last year my friend and I went to, we had some of those chicken strips in the United Club section (300 level). They weren't too bad but they did cost about $10. If we all meet up before the game against the Seahawks next month, we should probably tailgate. It's been a while since I last had some grilled hamburgers.

I had very high hopes for LeFevour, I watched him a few times last year and thought he was pro material. We will see if another team picks him up.

As for Olson, when his 250 pound frame starts rolling over 180 pound corners instead of them putting him on his ass, then he can start flapping his yapper. Until then, stfu as far as I am concerned with him.

Of course the media does stick up for the team in a certain sense, as if they called it like it is such as we do they would lose their access to the team.

I have to agree with Carl here, it's really hard to be optimistic, I really hope we are all wrong based on what we have seen this preseason. On another note, the Bears cut Dan LeFevor the other day, what do you guys think about that? I personally thought he had potential, but what do I know, I'm not a drafting "expert" like Angelo. BTW, I was listening to 99.5, a country music station in Chicagoland, and they were interviewing Greg Olsen. Olsen says he's "used to all the negative press about him" and "I'm not worried about it at all." 99.5 basically gives him a free pass about it, just like Pompei.

Also, on Fox news, D'Aroshou was on The Final Word and basically telling the fans "not to worry" "we are ready for the season"... does everyone else think the media is just trying to stick up for this team so they can get box seats for next game?

Damn 5-11 the worst prediction yet, that is depressing. But a lot of what you say is correct.

No doubt Cutler will get hurt with that line. Just a matter of time.

Pompei is inexplicable. If he is trying to make a living he'd come out hard against Bears idiotic management and coaches, since they are SO unpopular. When, anywhere, have you ever heard anyone say anything positive about them? Never. It is true that not everyone hated Ron as much as us here but then again many were calling for Lovie's head before we jumped on that bandwagon.

Unless Pompei is actually getting paid straight out of the Bears pocket (which is unlikely, they are too cheap) he is killing his career by alienating all fans by defending these dopes.

This is brutal for me because I am an optimist but I see us fighting Detroit for last in the division and Detroit being much better than people think. Who would have thought that the NFC North might be the toughest division? They do have two of the top teams with the hated Pack and the hated Queens. Detroit is on the rise and we are going nowhere.

Also Dan gets on me for over emphasizing the pre-season but damn they were just terrible against lousy opposition. I guess we are supposed to think that the Bears will come out of their cocoon and go from an ugly caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly as the season starts but I don't see it at all.

As a die hard fan I think this may be the season that the wheels fall off and we start spiraling near a 5-11 mark. With the o line being so terrible I see Cutler getting hurt or at least seriously banged up and now even our special teams blow. Our defense will have to really step it up which means I am betting on Briggs, Harris, Urlacher and Peps and damn I see maybe 1 1/2 superstars out of the 4 that we pay like superstars. Kind of like the Cubs this year where it starts out bad and then just plummets into a free fall when you keep wondering how much worse it can get.

I hate myself for thinking this about the Bears but that's what I think until I see otherwise.

Nice post. That place Wildfire is only a few blocks from me and is pretty nice. It is a steak house but they have lots of other food and a big wine selection.

Next time if they send you a big program like that just give it to me when you see me at the game and I can pass it on to one of my nephews they'd probably like that.

Good tip once again to never eat anything inside Soldiers Field. Ugh.

I am too tired to post my complete thoughts but let me shorten up for all of you:

Tillman sucks. Omiyale sucks. Williams sucks. Urlacher is old. There aren't any safeties. Hester is a wide receiver. That will result in an 8-8 record at best.

glad to see the site still around. keep up the good work. as for pompei, the above responses pretty much cover it. he's all about his access which is understandable to a degree, but at least try to be more creative and find ways to tell the truth in a more indirect manner. don't like kiss asses all that much.

2010 Bears: 6-10 at best and I'm sticking with it.

W-Detroit - This should be a gimme but it's close. Very close.
W-@Dallas - Cutler scores on gutsy blitz late hit touchdown toss to win the game. Cutler goes on IR with concussion.
L-Green Bay - Collins takes over. Divisional game embarrassment. Wind goes out of sails.
L-@NYG - No match for NY.
L-@Carolina - Cutler back but injured again, Collins takes over. Game gets out of control early.
L-Seattle - Close, demoralizing home loss.
W-Washington - W provided by special teams and defensive scores.
W-@Buffalo - Why not, eh? The game is in Toronto.
L-Minnesota - Farve takes Bears to the woodshed in his final season (snark). Peterson runs wild.
W-@Miami - Could be a L.
L-Philadelphia - Another toss-up.
W-@Detroit - Cutler returns for Bears final win of the season. Very low scoring black-and-blue division type game.
L-NewEngland - Secondary gets picked apart by Brady. Cutler throws six interceptions, three for TD returns.
L-@Minnesota - MNF game, huge embarrassment. Tuesday morning- Lovie is fired, Angelo resigns on Wednesday, Martz named as interim head coach.
L-NYJ - Ryan family's revenge on the McCaskets. Buddy is on the NYJ sideline as mascot.
L-@Green Bay – Ed Obradovich has mild heart attack live on post game radio show. Buffone provides life-saving CPR. Usual media speculation about next year goes on for weeks. Most wins come from defense and special team points. Blame placed on total lack of running game.

Fox 32 analyst Lou Canellis officially has permanent positive shit-eating grin registered with U.S. patent office and ensured with Lloyd's of London.

Days after the Super Bowl, Ted Phillips announces expensive unknown sports consulting firm hired to help find a new GM. Phillips gets a big “vote of confidence” from the McCasket family. Again.

6-10 is being generous. 5-11 is not out of reach. The W in Miami and L with Eagles being my two games on the fence.

I hope my predictions very wrong, really do. But only die-hard Bear fan drones or Cub fans would be more optimistic after what we've seen so far.

7-9 is my prediction, I'm with Dan on this one. I'm going to throw it out there that we will be swept by the Slack this year, and be beaten by the Lions once, they have Suh now, who will terrorize our horrendous o-line this year.

I figure they're going to split the division straight down the middle. Lovie teams generally wake up for Slacker games, and that one's at home. Notice that I'm already spotting the Slack 21 points in that game, and they could easily get 28-35. But I think the Bears O will be *just* undiscovered enough at that point to overwhelm an average Slack defense.

I also think that the lionesses will steal that game at Ford. You are on crack if you think the Bears win that Monday night game against the slack but I hope you are right.

I've got them going from 8-4 to 8-8 in the last 4 games of the season. My picks...

Wk 1 W Hello Kittens 24 @ Bears 34
Wk 2 L Cowboys 35 vs Bears 17
Wk 3 W Slackers 21 @ Bears 31
Wk 4 L Giants 31 vs Bears 28
Wk 5 W Panthers 17 vs Bears 31
Wk 6 W Seahawks 14 @ Bears 35
Wk 7 W Redskins 24 @ Bears 27
Wk 9 W Bills 10 vs Bears 30
Wk 10 W Queens 33 @ Bears 40
Wk 11 L Dolphins 14 vs Bears 10
Wk 12 W Eagles 28 @ Bears 38
Wk 13 L Hello Kittens 28 vs Bears 17
Wk 14 L Patriots 35 @ Bears 20
wk 15 L Queens 38 vs Bears 21
Wk 16 L Jets 17 @ Bears 10
Wk 17 L Slackers 10 vs Bears 6

Yes, I'm predicting a high-octane offense that will sputter in the last few weeks both against the elements and against stellar defenses. Yes, that's 9 games of 25+ points. Yes, that's 7 games giving up 25+ points, and another hanging on the edge. And, yes, that's the Bears finishing with 3 of 5 under 20. I think the Hello Kittens will be better this year, especially at home running on that turf against our average to pathetic secondary, and will steal one game from us. Yes, I see us splitting the division home and away. And, yes, that is a pretty massive home field advantage I'm giving them. I'm gonna roll with it for now.

As much as I hate to say it, even Martz runs the IFOD. It's not used anywhere NEAR as much as with Turner, but it's still in the system. As well as the ancient Pro-Set formation and the barely used Strong/Weak Side formations that were obsolete in 1997 (I know, they were in Madden 96). Granted, with two RB1s, the Pro-Set might actually be useful to this team. But that still doesn't mean ppl don't know how to play against it, cuz they do...
